Penang has lotsa awesome seafood, however for Lim Aik Chew, it is their curry with fresh water prawn and bengali bread the reason why everyone keep returning for. It is very popular among the tourist and of course the locals as well. The shop were rather hidden in Kampung Tanjung Berembang but with the help of GPS it is easy to find. It is best you call over for reservation and confirmation of the prawns availability.
The star of the day must be their prawn, comes in several sizes ranging from 1kg for RM 90 to more than RM 100. We go for the normal size of prawn as we wish to enjoy other dishes as well. The big prawn could be quite filling even though you just enjoy one. It is best you opted for fresh water prawn as it is much sweeter and made a perfect match with their distinctive curry. However, only salter water prawn available during our visit. The bengali bread was served warm and it is super soft. Teared a small piece of the bread and soaked it with their awesome thick curry sauce was so satisfying. We wish we can order extra with just the curry and one more loaf of bengali bread.
In order to savor the freshness of the prawn, we added steamed salt water prawn. Lotsa ginger, garlic and tomatoes added to complete this dishes. It is a very nice home cook style of dish.
Besides their heavenly prawns, we pampered ourselves with their 3 flavors fish (RM 48). The fish we had was Tilapia, deep fried until tawny crisp. Then, glazed with their succulent sauce.
