Ingolf's Kniepe German Bar and Restaurant @ Tanjung Bungah, Penang

Located at Tanjung Bungah, Ingolf's Kniepe German Bar and Restaurant perhaps is frequented by German food devotees, as I know there are not many German restaurants in the town. The restaurant was surprisingly packed when we arrived here during lunch hour, and we were lucky to get a table. Recommended to book first before coming to avoid disappointment or long waiting hour.

The ambience of the restaurant is lounge alike, with bar counters and limited tables. We thought we would have a hard time on picking a dish but the menu was rather simplified with 2 pages for our selection.

We often heard Schweinshaxe, or more well known as pork knuckles is a popular dish in German restaurant but we could not find this on the 2 pages menu. Thus, we go for Pork sausage with German style Sauerkraut (RM 14.30). It is topped with a slice of pork bacon, mashed potatoes and mustard. The German style sauerkraut has a fair taste of meat of texture, nevertheless we could not tell much the differences it had with other types of sausages except its size. The pale green stuff beneath the sausage was overwhelmed in quantity and we could not afford to finish it.

We were greedy to try all in once, hence we picked Julian's "Lunch Mixed Grill" (RM 22.30). It consists of one piece of porkchop, chicken breast, lambchop and chipolatas, topped with a fried egg. served with a redwine-onionsauce. The fatty parts of the lambchop bind well with the lean meat, offering a perfect balance for biting and taste when both of them are included in one bite. The lambchop was best eaten in its original taste.

The redwine-onionsauce as it claimed, which we could not get the redwine taste from it best used to heighten the chicken breast and porkchop. Both the chicken breast and pork chop had been carefully processed to eliminate all the foul odours.

Enormous amount of salad given indeed embellished the whole dish and our stomach was bloated then to finish the salad.

The platter came with complimentary ice lemon tea.

Complimentary pudding is available at the bar counter as well.

The servers have their own uniforms, and I rarely see a smiley face on them. Probably they were too busy and rushing?

Still remains mystery man ;p
 Picture time!

Remarks: They have a separated menu for lunch and dinner, with the menu for dinner offers an extensive range in dish with bigger portion at the same time. Of course, the price is different then!
