Penang recently has undergo transformation with more grand size openings, with the latest one being BSP Waterfront Food Court at Persiaran Karpal Singh. The swerving of having this deluxe type food court seems mimic Singapore's style, with the exceptional Penang food court would be in outdoor and not in the mall. I came with here with the state of psychology for trying and not expecting good food, after a non so pleasant experience at You Yuan Fen Food Court 有缘份.
|Curry Chicken Bread|
Dubbed as one of the biggest food court in Penang, the parking lots appear to be not that well planned. In the food court, there are two wings with different hawkers food for you to choose, and you can sit anywhere and order the food from another wings. The price would be slightly expensive than the food you order in other places as expected.
I was tempted to order Curry Chicken Bread 帝皇面包鸡 (RM 18) when I saw the stall. The food was presented by having the curry chicken crammed into a cavity of the round bread, similar to a coconut. The curry has ticked all the boxes of decent curry, chicken was tender but if I were to nitpick, it would be their curry taste was not well imbued into the potatoes. The curries provided were insufficient for us for dipping the bread too.
The bread seems to underwent a mixture of nice dough and excellent proofing process. It possessed an unique texture of crispiness, which suits for dipping into it to the curries.

Singapore Mee Hoon (RM5.00) is above average, with the mee hoon is fried toward more a dried style. This stall also offered Char Hor Fun, Hokkien Char and etc and they seemed to have taken a lot of orders.
Sorry for missing out the photo for the Singapore Mee Hoon stall. It is located a few stalls next to the curry chicken bread.
Curry Sizzling Chicken Noodles with egg (RM 6.50 + RM1.00) was another speciality dishes which attracted us. The curry was thick and strong in taste, matched well with the noodles being served, maybe a little over burnt by its saltiness. In fact, the curries also tasted well if you dip them using the bread from curry chicken bread. The chicken made me muscled my jaws bone heavily though.
There was a little accident happened for this order. We ordered extra egg but we were served without the egg, as depicted on the picture below. Nevertheless, the foreign workers were polite when I brought the dish back to them for correction, which they obliged to change for me. On top of that, they also found out they forgot to add vegetables too and they added some green factors to the noodles for us. Well, we did not blame them as they seemed rather inexperienced in handling the crowd and it was their few days into opening. No wonder the noodles looked weird when we were served.

A cup of coffee (RM1.60) which has a mission to create a diabetic world. Look at the amount of condensed milk being added!
Another incident when I went to this stall to order Japanase Spicy Ramen. I was being informed the stall only open at night with the atrocious expression "Hey you dumb moron, we only open at night and now we are busy preparing the food" (I was there in the afternoon). That guy indeed blacked me out for 15 minutes of the day.
It appears to me that the food court staff was slightly chaos and not prepared over the overwhelming responses.
Tips for dining here:
- The eating utensils are located at different corner of the food court and not served with the food, you have to go and look for them.
- Remember your table numbers and give them to the hawker during ordering process.
- Be prepared to spend extra pennies compared to other hawkers / food courts
- Be prepared to handle a minimum amount of flies.
- Be prepared to park a distance away and walk here.
There are various stalls here, the others I saw worth to try would be their zhu char, Thai food, Japanese food, crab rice and etc . If you have your experience dining here, please do share it in the comments section!
