A happy Mid-Autumn Festival to all! 中秋节快乐！
It is one of the joyous festive season in the year again. Some may indulging in the fun playing with lanterns, or electronics lantern, or maybe even lantern apps nowadays. Some may having a BBQ party with friends or family. At our age, lanterns or having a party with friends appear to be obsolete, thus we decided to bleed our wallet for some delicate mooncakes.
We have long heard that Tho Yuen 桃园茶楼 serves one of the best home made mooncakes in the town since our parents' generation so we decided bleed our wallet for some delicate mooncakes.
There is an array of moon cakes available in Tho Yuen restaurant, ranging from the mundane black beans or lotus mooncakes to the peculiar ones such as durian or chinese ham (金腿) mooncakes.
Simple Lotus mooncakes never gets us bored. We still enjoy them despite the availability of various funky mooncakes nowadays.
Durians lovers would love the durian mooncakes sold here, which emits pungent smell of durian.
Lastly would be the special chinese ham mooncakes (金腿). The only way to differentiate them to the other mooncakes is the wording - 金腿 on the mooncakes skin, as all the mooncakes here are encased using the same way. The mooncake filling is crispy with a scent of pork. Although chinese ham mooncakes have been on the market for some time but we are ashamed that this is our first time trying it.
They have paced themselves with the modern era and producing ice skin mooncakes too!
