The much anticipated Urban Food Hall has opened in Gurney Paragon Penang, featuring 5 renowned brands under 1 roof - Johnny Rockets, Ichiban the Izakaya, The Library Coffee Bar, The South East and Q Bar. It is located at on the ground floor, just beside Sephora. Heavy advertisement was done in Facebook resulted heavy crowd during the grand opening, thus we waited some time for the fad to cease before coming over.
They are practising an unique concept - cross ordering system. Regardless of which section of restaurant you are seated, feel free to order any food from other restaurants under the roof in Urban Food Hall.
We were mainly driven here by Johnny Rockets, the American style original hamburger. The serving size did not disappoint us as it was larger than other conventional burgers we had.
We ordered The Houston (RM 27.90), a spicy burger featuring a bedding of jalapeño peppers, pepper jack cheese, crispy coral lettuce, fresh tomato slice & spicy sauce. It was not really spicy as we expected, and compliment should be given to the patty with crispy outer layer with soft and tender meat. We like the layer of jalapeño particularly as it induced a special taste and biting sensation on every chew of the burger.
As a sidebar note, Johnny Rockets would be the only reason we return to Urban Food Hall. Midway through our dining, we heard the music explosion and Johnny Rockets staff were dancing in front of their counter. Too bad we missed it out.
Volcano Maki (RM 35) from Ichiban the Izakaya has nothing to wow about. It tasted like normal maki with the exceptional there are more tobiko (fish roes) and a bigger size maki. It was expensive with the price tag of RM 35.
Perhaps we should have ordered their famous Kirin Frozen Beer.
Mocha (RM13) from The Library Coffee Bar.
