Shang Place, another groovy place to enjoy comfy restaurant style zhu cha in fair price. Drop them a call before you plan your dinner at Shang Place during the weekend, as they do cater for small wedding dinner occasion as well. The place is rather small but they offer very attentive service. You shall have no difficulty to locate their shop at one of the corner lot in Krystal Point. Their big red signage always caught my attention when I pass Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah although I long aware their existence.
Red Snapper was steamed in the bed of soy sauce, using claypot to encapsulate the heat. Handful of coriander topped the fish to give us some kick on our tongue. The fish was perfectly done to keep its freshness and tenderness of meat. Extra marks given for the right level of saltiness contributed by the sauce.
Here come my favourite, Marmite Chicken (RM 20) The welly done marinated chicken pieces was deep fried until crisp crunch. Then, thick coated with heavenly marmite sauce. Fried bun was given to complement the scrumptious chicken pieces.
Steam 2 kind of Eggs (RM 12), mixture of salty egg and normal egg was perfectly beaten with water and then brought to steam. We love the way they add on the soy sauce and sesame oil after the silky smooth egg was cooked, then garnished with shallots to create the contrast of soft and crunch texture..
Another homy dish we enjoyed was Spinach with Master Stock (RM 12). The soup exhibits the balance of sweet and salt. I wish I can have second bowl of it but the portion just perfect for 4 person.
Braised Tofu (RM 12), I am always amazed how the chef can make the tofu marshmallowy soft at the center but crisp on the skin. Thus, it makes my main criteria to rate a great tofu and Shang Place did not failed me. Thick starchy sauce was glazed on top to make sure the tofu was not overly soaked, thus keeping its original texture.
Baby potato leaf cooked with sambal (RM 12) always my favorite choice to add some green during our sinful zhu cha meal.
