Foodlab offers an extensive menu ranging about 20 different dishes for selection. There are bento set, fried noodles. salad, nasi lemak and even vegetarian set. We were quite surprised to see the diversity of food choices offered as it was comparable to visiting a food court.
The food dispatch arrives at our place 10 minutes earlier than the agreed time and gave us a call upon arriving. It was so exciting for us as if we were going to receive a surprise gift. The feeling would have been intensified if we were starving that time.
Each food set was wrapped nicely and the eating utensils are provided. We thought we were in Japan as the bento box appeared similar to Japanese bento box takeaway. Complimentary soya drink is given for each set.
We ordered a set of Pepper Briny Squid Bento (RM 12.90) and Fried "Apple-licious" Rice (RM9.90). Both were great pick!
The squid for pepper briny squid bento was fried nicely as it was crunchy and not excessively oily. Sprinkles of salty particles were added to the squid to arouse the tongue papillae, bringing a delightfully yummy experience.
Presence of broccoli, braised egg and tofu making the bento set a complete source of carbohydrate, protein, calcium and vitamin. If more soy sauce was provided then it would make the dish even better.
Fried "Apple-licous" Rice will be a decent choice for vegetarian. Embedded within the rice heap were a great number of crisp green apples which we truly enjoyed. A little crackling sound could still be heard when biting the green apple cubes, indicating the apples were fresh.
Embedded in the rice were also hot and spicy sensation which was moderate.
The goose meat analogue, or better know as "Zhai Er" was one of the best we have come across. Crisp and fragrant, 5 pieces of it was not enough for us.
Overall we were very satisfied with the dishes. We used to think that food delivery service could not be any better than food we had on the spot but we change our mind today then. The minimum order is 1 meal and the delivery charge of RM2.00 will be waived for orders above 3 A'la carte meals. For more information, please visit Foodlab website.
