While searching information on meal in Singapore using the Internet, we often stumbled across the name Yu Kee Duck Rice. They have 20+ establishments in Singapore, and the history of Yu Kee Duck Rice was dated back to 1950s and 60s when a small duck rice food stall in Sembawang kampung area was established by the owner, Mr. Seah B.L.
Today, Yu Kee Duck Rice has expanded to more than duck rice solely. They are also selling XO minced pork noodles, laksa, hokkien mee and even halal dishes!
We were somehow caught in surprise as for the Specialty Duck Rice, yam rice was used instead of regular white rice, well complemented by the braised condiments. Served along were slices of cucumbers, preserved vegetables, braised peanuts, bean curds and eggs, making it a nutrition balanced meal.
The braised ducks were indeed lovely. It was well braised and possessing tender texture. A complimentary bowl of bak kut teh alike soup was given as well. We are in no position to compare it against any other duck rice in Singapore as this was the sole duck rice we had tasted it in this foreign land, but certainly it did left a good impression to us.
Free flow of sauce. All 3 did complement well with the rice.
The duck noodles with thin noodles were mediocre. Though it was served with herbal soup but the herbal taste was definitely lacking. We shall stick with the rice.
We dined in the Bugis branch. The corner lot restaurant was small in size relatively and probably could accommodate up to 10 tables.
