Located alongside Beach Street, Urban Daybreak is a cafe that caters for breakfast and lunch only. Metaphorically, if you are not a morning person, you should stop wrestling with your snooze button and make a change. They serve primarily western styled cuisine such as waffles, toasts and sandwiches.
The cafe is relatively smaller in size, making chances to secure a seat might be a challenge sometimes. We arrived there at 1:30pm on a Saturday and were lucky to grab the only remaining seat. It does not take long for us to arrive at the decision what to order, as the menu is simple by featuring every dishes on a single page.
We picked Such A Good Waffle (RM 18.5) as the name indeed caught our attention. It comes with a fried sunny side up and smoky gammon hams sandwiched in between the fluffy waffles, then topped with BBQ baked beans. The gammon hams were smoked to the right aroma and possessing a tad salty sensation. Coupled with the sweet ending BBQ baked beans, it complemented the waffle well.
Perhaps we did not know how to enjoy the Moho Cubano Sandwich (RM 24.5) here. Sandwiched within the soft ciabatta were braised pork shoulder, broiled ham and pickles but it lacked a distinctive and pleasant taste. The meat tasted dull, making the overall sandwich filling was too dry too consume. Though the French fries seemed to have been garnished with chili powder alike ingredients, we still needed chili sauce to spice up the plain fries.
The Urban Shake (RM 12.50) here was enjoyable. It comes with double shot espresso, chocolate cream milk, hazelnut syrup and finished with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. There was a strong coffee kick with the double shot espresso, and the vanilla ice cream does impart a nice creamy sensation to the overall drink.
