The Ramadan month is coming early to the calendar in 2017 and Four Points Sheraton Penang, the beach side 4 stars hotel has rolled out their special buffet themed Tales of the Arabian Nights. The buffet will run from a limited time from 27th May 2017 to 24th June 2017 at The Eatery.
Many thanks to Four Points Sheraton for extending the invitation.
As the theme suggests, Four Points Sheraton is hosting a spread of over 50 selections of both Malaysian and Arabic delicacies to appease the patrons. Available for dinner only, the buffet is priced at:
- RM 54++ per adult
- RM 30+ per person for senior citizens (above 60)
- children (6-11 years old)
- children below 6 dine for free
Although it is a buffet, the traditional Malay dish such as Ulam appears in the corner with various condiments such as ayer assam, acar rampai, sambal belacan, kicap bercili and kuah kacang for selection.
Various Arabic salad such as Hummus, Fatuous Salad, Tabbouleh Salad, Ful Medames, Baba Ghanoush, Shawander Salad and Warak Anap bi zeit (rice and pine nut filled vine leaves) are provided for patrons. We enjoyed it much as these Arabic cuisines are not often found in eateries across Penang.
Otherwise, enjoy the all time favorites Penang Rojak with cut fruit such as watermelon, honey dew, pineapple, jack fruits and etc prepared.
Malaysian Kerabu are served on banana leaves in mini pans to create a very homey feeling. Sample a nip of the Kerabu Daging dan Tang Hoon ala Thai, Kerabu Sotong Limau Bali and various Kerabu as appetizers.
The starter section is full with wonderful dishes such as Ayam Daun Pandan, Masala Ubi Bengala Samosa and Lobak Ayam. Lebanese Spicy Lamb Kofta Pizza is a peculiar dish as there is no much lamb pizza available out there.

|Malay influenced main dishes|
Traditional Malay dishes are offered in main dishes counter. Most of them are well spiced by having a great degree of reddish colour but they tasted just right on spiciness. A few great choices for the night would be their Puyuh Goreng Berempah, Terung Sambal Udang Kering, Kalio Ayam Dara and Daging Batang Pinang " Tok Mamak ".
Remember not to miss out another counter displaying a few selection of Arabic influenced main dishes, including Dawood Basha (Braised Lamb Meat Ball in Spiced Tomato Sauce), Bahmiah bil Laham (Braised Lamb with baby Okra), Chermoula Baked Whole Seabass and Khabsa Dajaj (Chicken Khabsa).
The well known Sup Ekor Berempah is available as well, with the options to go for either Roti Bengali or Roti Perancis.
And you shall not miss out the the action counters of the night located outside of The Eatery, offering abundance of mouth-watering delicacies to pamper your stomach. Get yourself a plate of Penang Char Koay Teow, a few skewers of satay ayam and satay kambing, or wait patiently for the high demand charcoal barbecue counter which offers shish kebab (lamb skewers), shish tawook (chicken skewers), and gimberi mishwee (chermoula barbecue prawns).
While we enjoyed the assortment of desserts, we thought the cakes and cookies could be improved in the texture as it was a tad dry for the evening. It is a surprise to find our all-time favorite dessert Pengat Pisang, Bubur Cha-Cha and Pengat Labu served at the corner.
